Then I started having weird dreams like Twilight Zone type dreams. I don't have to take it daily sometimes because I am on a new med my dr gave me for hypertension that makes me very sleepy.Īt first it worked so good that I took the dosage before bedtime and I knocked out, slept like a baby but did feel groggy the next morning. I was prescribed 25 mg 3X daily when I first started for the anxiety and insomnia, but now I am dosed 50 mg twice before bedtime.

I have been using the medication as needed and it works great for me. Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine and also used for sedation before surgery. My dr would not give me narcotics or anxiolytics for medication due to my past history with stimulant use. And boyyyy that was such a big difference between everything that I have been there and done that with trying to help me get to sleep and stay asleep. So after about two whole months of being on Trazadone I was given the hydroxyzine 25 mg 3 times daily as needed. I was not using any stimulants at the time, not even caffiene or nicotine. The dosage was only 50 mg at bedtime, so that may have been the case maybe it wasn't working? IDK?. The trazadone did the total opposite to where I was up for hours as if it was like I was on meth. I have tried numerous herbal supplements such as sleepy time tea, chamomile teas, magnesium supplements and whatever I tried it would work at first but then somehow my body would get immune to these things. I have experience with Hydroxyzine and although everyones different when taking medications due to how their body metabolises the meds here is my experience: My dr prescribed me Trazadone because I was complaining of severe insomnia. Eventually they prescribed them but i already taken a shitton of damage and some irriversible. I ended up in the emergency multiple times because of it, it could have been avoided if they listen and gave me meds when i begged them. I've been dealing with all these symptoms since i was 18 years old, i've been to doctors for the last 12 years but noone listened to me. Been taking meds for years now and the most frustrating part is that they only help for a certain amount. i need a med for about everything, sleep, pain, depression, nerve damage. I also take gabapentin for nerve pain and gabapentin somehow seems to make temazepam stronger which is a plus.įucking meds man. Melatonin in high dosages actually keeps you awake and disturbs sleep. SSRI, SNRI and most tricyclics just suck when it comes to sleep, they all keep me awake. If temazepam doesn't work because my pain symptoms are extreme i take some alcohol to enhance temazepams action. Problem with temazapm is that you usually wake up after 4 or 5 hours and need to redose. Temazepam, especially if you don't eat for a few hours and chew the caps before swallowing with water (so it absorb faster) will put you down. any suggestions? as i said, im getting desperate, discouraed and completely unable to function d/t exhaustion. Gabaentin and pregabalin (which i have to take some days for severe nerve pain r/t back injury) both make me VERY wired. Other meds that seem to help some people with panic attacks and severe insomnia, but sadly have proven worthless for me include (but not necessarily limited to: dephenhydramine, hydroxyzine, remeron, trazodone, nortryptaline, doxepin, all the ssri's and snri's, melatonin, every herb and tea known to man, even ambien up to 30mg. now I was on 2.5 mg xanax for 17 years and remember sleeping for the 1st time in my life, woke and the sun was up and that startled me as i had never experienced going to bed in the dark and waking after sun up, EVER, at age 17!!! now its been 8 months and no sleep at all. I am switching dr's next month, because mine will only give me amitryptaline, 25-50mg, even tried up to 150 mg and nothing. ive come to the conclusion that i really need chemical help to get desperately needed sleep. In other words, there isnt a real reason why ive never been able to sleep.

I dont have any unusually severe stressors going on, and am on disability so no job stress. it is fairly quiet in my neighborhood and most of the drive by shootings are in the daytime in other words i feel safe where im at. I have a routine, dont stay in bed during the day, and only use it to sleep and read. I have now completed the internet, read every fiction novel released in the past 14 years, and counted every raised dot in the popcorn-paint on my ceiling!
